Starting July 1, 2022, Health First Colorado and Child Health Plan Plus will offer expanded maternal health care and family planning benefits and services that support personal and family well-being.

Pregnant? Stay covered for a FULL year after giving birth

Starting July 1, 2022, you are guaranteed health coverage for 12 months after your pregnancy ends as long as you tell Health First Colorado or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) you are pregnant.

Family planning benefits

Starting July 1, 2022, Health First Colorado and CHP+ members and people who qualify for emergency Medicaid can get:

  • A 12-month supply of birth control no matter their immigration or citizenship status.
  • Family planning services like birth control no matter their immigration or citizenship status.

There is no co-pay for qualifying family planning services.

Family planning benefits for people with higher incomes

People, who would not be covered because of higher incomes, may now qualify for expanded coverage for family planning and related services.
